tired, but it's such a great thing

well goodness, the past week has been so tiring, and fun, and new, and exciting!

it's been a while since i've last posted, so i'll try to remember everything that's been happening.

last thursday was a pretty tough day for me. i was drained. really worn out. mentally. physically. emotionally. i really missed home. and i started feeling overwhelmed. our 'to-do' list kept growing and growing. i just wanted to give up. literally pack all my things and head home. but i stayed! thankfully! and now i'm doing better.

saturday was a much needed day. my team and i helped out at the food pantry. hundreds of people come for food and clothes, but this saturday was just food. so many people were there. and they started lining up at midnight the night before, even though the doors don't open until 9 the next morning.
so many thoughts were going through my head. i just want to know peoples stories. where they come from. why they are the way they are. what brings them to the food pantry.
after we finished up at the food pantry, we ventured off to the national museum of american history. it was so fun to see everything! our group split up, and anna and i headed to georgetown. destination: georgetown cupcakes. but let me just tell you, the line was at least a mile long. no exaggeration. oh, and we also walked about 5 miles to get there. so it was a total letdown. but nonetheless, we got cupcakes! from sprinkles. the owner is actually a judge on the food network for a show called cupcake wars. the cupcakes are so delicious!
saturday was such a long day. filled with walking, cupcakes and stalled metros. we finally got home, and i was tired. you know when you were little and your mom would make you run errands with her all day and all you wanted to do was sit down? i was that kinda tired. so tired that i went to bed at 7:30 pm and didn't wake up until 9:30 am. such an amazing night of sleep after a long day.

sunday was church day. another wonderful service. and wonderful people. a lady in the church calls me glamorous. i think she might be right :) my roommates agree with her. after church we headed to chinatown. it was a disappointment. very small and overrated, i guess you could say. but it was fun to ask chen, my chinese roommate, lots of questions. we also shopped! and i also got new clothes, of course. and of course i did a fashion show when we all got back to our apartment. my roommates love the fact that i love clothes. they all say they're going to shop in my closet. which i'm completely ok with.

so finally monday. today. it was chen's birthday and we celebrated by going to our favorite restaurant. busboys and poets. it's such an artsy, hip place. all the young locals go there, or so it seems. we then went to get frozen yogurt. excellent choice too. what wasn't an excellent choice was the shoes i wore. basically, my feet hurt. badly. but i'm resting now!

tomorrow is the last day of the after-school program. we're throwing an 'end-of-the-year' party for the kids. pizza, cupcakes, cookies, chips, and soda. so healthy. it will be nice to have a fun day though.

but i do believe right now, my bed is calling my name..
